Política contra el cercenamiento de la aleta de tiburón
La International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF) define el cercenamiento de la aleta de tiburón (shark finning) como la práctica de retener a bordo las aletas de tiburón y descartar al mar el resto del cuerpo.
Somos conscientes de que el shark finning contraviene el Código de Conducta para la Pesca Responsable de la FAO y su Plan de Acción Internacional para la conservación y gestión de las poblaciones de tiburones. También contraviene y no respeta un número de otras resoluciones pasadas por organismos marinos internacionales. El shark finning causa la muerte de un alto número de tiburones cada año y amenaza una especie considerada vulnerable.
Por estas razones, Descaexport, S.L., teniendo en cuenta las medidas de gestión aplicadas por los Organismos Regionales de Ordenación Pesquera (OROPs), así como las normas nacionales e internacionales para la conservación de la vida marina, ha establecido e incorporado en su política de compra y abastecimiento de atún los siguientes puntos:
- Condenar y prohibir el cercenamiento de la aleta de tiburón (shark finning).
- Evitar transacciones comerciales con barcos que hayan sido identificados por los Organismos Regionales de Ordenación Pesquera (OROPs), o por las autoridades nacionales o internacionales, como participantes en la práctica del cercenamiento de la aleta de tiburón.
- Evitar transacciones comerciales con compañías que no hayan prohibido y condenado la práctica del cercenamiento de la aleta de tiburón. No llevar a cabo transacciones con compañías que no tengan una política pública prohibiendo el shark finning y requiriendo que los tiburones sean descargados con sus aletas naturalmente intactas, si se retienen.
